PADI Rescue Diver Course

The course consists of approximately 10 academic hours and 15 practical hours (five 3-hour open water training sessions).  A comprehensive final exam is given and mastery  of all skills is required.  Pre-requisites are:  minimum age of 15 and PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) and current CPR/First Aid certification.  The student will also receive the certification of DAN Oxygen Provider.   In the Divers Alert Network (DAN) Oxygen Provider course, the participant will learn and practice the skill of providing oxygen as a First-Aid treatment for diving related injuries.  The participant will learn how to recognize the need for oxygen, properly administer it, as well as how to assemble, operate and properly manage oxygen equipment.  Date given is the commencement of first academic session.  Pre-registration is required.

The Rescue Diver Course is designed to provide the diver with the necessary skills to provide knowledgeable assistance/rescue to divers in distress, both above and below the water.  It also serves as a means to evaluate conditions for possible hazards and to work effectively to eliminate them.   Rescue Diver certification is a recognized standard of competence which singles out the highly proficient diver.  Successful candidates will receive a new PADI Rescue Diver certification card as well as a DAN Oxygen Provider card.
